The maps illustrate the layout of the ground floor of a museum in 1990 and after two decades.
Overall, the ground floor has undergone significant changes including: the removal of some facilities and additional of new ones. Several areas have not seen any alterations whether their locations or designs.
In1990, there was a gift shop in the top left-hand corner of a museum, but this was expanded and cafe has been added. Reception counter was attached to a museum office in 1990, however this has been enlarged and today it lies near to an extended entrance. Similarly, in the centre of the ground floor, there is a statue now, which used to be located next to the key stairs. The archeology gallery area was noticeably wide, before the children’s interactive zone had built half of its place.
From an overall perspective, the museum has become more recreational, because some unnecessary facilities have completely removed and others were replaced. The half of archeology gallery area, which which was located the east side of map, is now poster display area for residents. The museum has a lift connecting cafe and gift shop and natural history room. The local history history room has not moved within twenty years, but it is harder now to find due to additional walls. The musem office and natural history rooms are remained at the same place respectively, as they were in 1990.
