The bar chart illustrates the carbon footprint in various locations across Europe, Asia, and America from 1975 to 2005. Overall, the USA and China consistently produced more carbon than Germany, the United Kingdom, Canada, and India during this time period.
In 1975, the USA emitted 1.2 billion metric tonnes of carbon, which was higher than China by 900 thousand metric tonnes. After 15 years, China’s emissions increased threefold, while the USA’s increased by only 100 thousand metric tonnes. By 2005, the difference between these two countries was just 100 thousand metric tonnes.
Canada and the UK had the lowest carbon emissions over the 30-year period, not reaching 1 million metric tonnes, while Germany exceeded 2 million metric tonnes. Germany maintained this level for 15 years, but by 2005, its emissions decreased to 2 million metric tonnes. In contrast, India increased its emissions over the 30 years to reach 3 million metric tonnes.
