The bar chart provides the amount of carbon emissions in the USA, Germany, the United Kingdom, China, Canada, and India between 1975 and 2005.
Overall, the figures for the USA, China, India, and Canada increased slightly over the period, while those for Germany and the United Kingdom decreased.
Focusing on the increases first, the USA had the highest emissions in all years, starting at about 1,200,000 metric tonnes in 1975. China recorded around 250,000 metric tonnes in the same year. In 1990, emissions in the USA and China were approximately 1,250,000 and 650,000 metric tonnes, respectively. By 2005, the USA reached about 1,600,000 metric tonnes, while China increased significantly to around 1,500,000 metric tonnes.
Focusing on the countries that showed a decrease, Germany and the United Kingdom experienced a downward trend over the period. Germany’s emissions fell from about 250,000 metric tonnes in 1975 to around 200,000 in 2005. Similarly, the United Kingdom saw a slight decline, dropping from approximately 150,000 to just over 100,000 metric tonnes. Regarding the remaining countries, Canada and India showed gradual increases. Canada’s emissions rose slightly from around 100,000 to about 150,000 metric tonnes. Likewise, India recorded a steady growth, increasing from roughly 50,000 in 1975 to nearly 300,000 metric tonnes in 2005.
