On the table is represented the average time spent by individuals of different ages from ten different countries in a medical consultation with family doctors.
Chile appears to be the country where people of all ages spend the most time at the doctor ranging from 32 minutes in the 0 to 10 age range to 39 minutes for patients over 70 years, which is the highest among all the countries compared. Countries such as Italy, the UK, France and the USA show a common pattern, highlighting an increase in minutes spent on a medical appointment as age rises. For example, Italian children spend on average 17 minutes, whereas adults reach 24 minutes and the elderly demographic 29 minutes. Conversely, a clear trend doesn’t appear for India where the peak amount of minutes spent at the doctor is 21 at age range 40 to 60, while individuals over 70 dedicate just 11 minutes. Kenya, is instead the country that spends the least amount of time in a medical consultation, indeed older people spend 11 minutes and 10 minutes, for the 60-70 and 70 plus range respectively.
Overall, there appear to be some clear patterns for specific countries where, as people get older they tend to spend more time at the doctor and countries like India where such a trend does not exist.
