The image illustrates how pineapples are grown and processed. The upper area of the picture depicts conditions required for growing the fruit, while the lower section explains how pineapple products can be manufactured or prepared for being transported overseas.
To begin, the main conditions for growing pineapples are direct sunlight, with the temperature ranging between 23 and 30 degrees C, and ethaline provided as a supplement to boost the growing process. The fruits are planted 26 cm away from each other, and it takes a year to grow a fruit. A ripe fruit reaches 30 cm in height and 2 kilos in weight.
Regarding the lower area of the image, the initial stage for all 3 ways of production is washing the fruit. In order to produce pineapple juice, the fruits are first peeled and then placed into the extractor to be squeezed. The final stage is packaging juice into Tetra Pak boxes. Turning to canned fruit, the pineapples are first also peeled and then cut into smaller pieces to fit into metal cans. The third way of handling pineapples is exporting them abroad. To preserve the fruit during transportation, they need to be waxed and carefully placed into large wooden containers to prevent them from any damage until they reach their consumers.
