The pie charts compare and contrast the similarities and differences in the rate of four types of vehicles in the United Kingdom in free periods in 1965,1985 and 2005
As can be seen from the charts, there was a significant upward trend in the proportion of private cars while the opposite was true for public transport, recreational vehicles, and lorries and other commercial vehicles.
To begin with, in 1965, private cars accounted for the highest rate among four categories, with 40%. The total figure of public transport and recreational vehicles was equal to that of private cars alone, each of which was 25% and 15%.In addition, the rate of lorries and other commercial vehicles was 20%.
In 1985, it is worth pointing out that private cars remained its leading position with a rise to 55%, which was approximately half of the total proportion. Moreover, despite experiencing opposing trends, lorries and other commercial vehicles and public transport reached the same figure of 20%.Meanwhile, a considerable decline to 5% was found in recreational vehicles.
In terms of 2005, with a slight increase to 60%, the former continued to dominate the whole graph . Similarly, there were minor increases in the rates of public transport and recreational vehicles in 2005, with 22% and 8% respectively . Lorries and other commercial vehicles, in contrast, decreased their rate into half of the previous figure in 1985 to only 10% in 2005. Actually, the figure for private cars 2005 was higher than the total number of three other types of transportation.
