The charts below illustrate the percentage of females and males between 60 and 64 in employment in four distinct countries in 1970 and 2000.

Overall, it is evident that both genders tend to work the most in Japan in both years. In contrast, men and women aged around 60-64 worked the least in Belgium in 2000.

In 1970, men aged between 60 and 64 dominated employment in Japan , accounting for 84%. Later this percentage was followed by Belgium, being 79%. The USA and Australia had 73% and 74% respectively. Meanwhile, women had the lowest proportion of employment in Belguim, representing 8%. The highest percentage belonged to Japan, accounting for 43%.

By 2000, rate of employed men plummet to 19% in Belguim. the percentage of males showed slight decrease to 76% over the period. Percentage of men experienced significant fall in Australia, having 47%. The percentage of women increased slowly to 19% from 18% in Australia. Belguim and Japan declined steadily to 7% and 40% correspondingly.
