The pie charts compare the forecast and actual shares of psychologists’ employment after graduating.
Overall, there is a noticeable difference between what was expected and what actually happened. While it is anticipated that private clinics will be the most common psychologists’ employment after graduating, the fact is that the most prevalent is schools and universities.
In terms of the anticipated percentage, the highest will be in private clinics, at 69%, five times as high as that in community agencies, while the proportion of hospital and medical centres will be the same as that of schools and universities, at 8%. 2% of psychologists are expected to work in other jobs after graduating.
However, the actual employment data show a different trend. The largest share, 46%, is in schools and universities, while only 16% of psychologists graduating work in private clinics, a dramatic drop compared to expectations. Similarly, a 10 percent decrease also can be seen in that in community agencies. By contrast, the figures for the remaining categories experience moderate growth, to 16% and 8%, respectively.
