The bar graph illustrates the total amount of leisure hours men and women enjoyed in a specific week of different employment statuses in 1998 to 1999.
Overall, the total amount of leisure time by men was relatively higher than that of women, except for unemployed part-time and housewives, which were witnessed for 0 hours. Additionally, the males’ figure for unemployed hours represented the highest level, and this figure also showed the lowest level in two categories.
Regarding unemployed and retired hours, the figure for males was almost higher than that of females. With the amount of unemployed hours by men recorded at 84 hours and the figure for retired hours stood at 82 hours. However, females had the same level in both categories, at 75 hours. In the total of employed full time, males were also higher than females, with that of men having 45 and that of women constituting 39.
In two categories, females were 40 hours unemployed part-time and occupied 48 for housewives. In contrast, males did not enjoy unemployed part-time and housewives, while males represented the highest level in other leisure time. Therefore, it shows that males prefer working permanent jobs, having retirement or becoming unemployed instead of working at temporary companies or doing houseworks.
