Band 6+: You should spend about 20 minutes on this task. The graph and table below give information about water use worldwide and water consumption in two different countries. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant. Write at least 150 words.

The table and graph in combination provide details on water consumption in the countries of Brazil and Democratic Republic of Congo, and Global water usage by sector. At the onset, it is clear that agriculture sector has the highest usage of water over the century shown in the graph compared to other sectors.

Conversely, the same graph also depicts that industrial and domestic categories have about the same usage of water between 1900 to 1940 standing at approximately 200 KM3. Industrial sector consumption then shoots up at an exponential scale to reach a little above 1000 KM3 at year 2000. Agriculture category trend was quiet similar to that of industrial but with two major differences. The lowest point of agriculture stood at almost 500 KM3 which is also the highest of that year. Secondly, the graph is an exponential graph with a ceaseless increase.

The table shows that Brazil has greater population as well as irrigated land hence water consumption is also higher at 359 m3 compared to 8 m3 of Democratic Republic of Congo. There is an difference in irrigated land with Brazil having 265 times greater land compared to Congo.
