Dear Smith,

I hope this message finds you wellMy name is Johnson Thomas, and I am writing this letter to express my regret for cancelling my participation in the event.

I would like to say that it was an honor to given the opportunity and I am truly greatful for that. Unfortunately my brother’s heart surgery is scheduled the same day as the conference. As you know, I am the only family member available to accompany him in such short notice.

The treatment was planned weeks before and it was originally intended to take place next week. But my brother’s health condition got worse suddenly, and doctor suggested we perform the procedure as soon as possible. Hence I have no option but to retrieve myself from the conference.

The best solution for me would be to present the keynote speech for next year. I hope by doing this,I will be able to compensate for the inconvenience. If there is any other suggestions regarding this matter, please contact me.
