Dear John,
I’m writing to you about the new year celebrations in my country to help with your project. You can feel free to pop around my place this weekend if you want to talk more about it.
As you know, I’m from India. We have a spectrum of culture and heritage there and it reflects in the festivals that we celebrate as well. Depending on the region and language spoken, there are different calendars that are followed and so, different days are celebrated as new year’s. It marks an important day to the local people and is usually a regional holiday with a lot of festivities planned around it. It also signifies the traditions being passed down to us, kids.
In spite of the varied culture, what I’ve noticed to be common is that its always about gathering the family together and celebrating by cooking traditional food and sharing sweets. Who doesn’t love sweets on holidays, right?
I personally love decorating our home during the new year. I spend a lot of time drawing colourful art on the floor in our doorways, called rangoli. We also decorate our deities in fresh flowers to wish for a prosperous year ahead.
I hope that you can get an A on your paper with these details.
Best Wishes,
Priya
