Dear Sal,
I hope this letter finds you in good health. I’m really sorry I won’t be present at your birthday party next weekend. I am so pained because I am the main organizer of the whole thing but unfortunately there was nothing I could do about it.
Do you remember me telling you about my new job? Well the management set up a work seminar on the day of your big day and you know it is official and I can’t object.
Well, I would have reached out to you earlier before now but it’s an impromptu program, thereby leaving me with no time to have mentioned it but I promise to make it up to you.
I checked my schedule for the week and I will be free by the next weekend. We will have all the time in the world and i really hope this will compensate for my absence. Once again, I’m sorry. Thank you for accepting my apologies.
Your friend,
Oye
