Nowadays, some people believe that schools should not make students learn a foreign language, as not everyone has a natural talent for it. However, I strongly disagree with this opinion because learning languages is beneficial for all students.Firstly, learning a foreign language helps students develop important cognitive skills. Even if some children find it difficult, the process of learning improves memory, concentration and problem-solving abilities. For example, students who study another language often perform better in other subjects because their brains are more actively engaged.
Secondly, foreign languages are essential in today’s globalised world. In the future, students may need to communicate with people from different countries for work or travel. If schools do not teach languages, many young people will miss valuable opportunities. For instance, knowing English can help students access better education and job prospects.
In conclusion, although some students may not have a natural ability for languages, I believe that schools should continue to teach them because of the significant academic and practical benefits.
