One school of thought holds that people should be free to generate noise, whereas others assert that it is crucial for the governments to impose laws to reduce sounds. This essay attempts to shed light on both perspectives before concluding that I am in favor of the latter notion.
On the one hand, being free to make noise could be advantageous to a certain extent. Firstly, people’s stress is very likely to disappear when having the freedom to create noise. For instance, some people have mental strain at the workplace, so they use music and maximize the volume to relieve their enormous pressure and eventually recuperate after a long laborious day . Secondly, many of them tend to generate noise at the festival to some extent. This is because they want to share the celebrating atmosphere in order to welcome people to join, especially on Christmas day, so catholic ones usually turn on their hymn to introduce their god to people who are not Catholic.
On the other hand, there are a host of compelling reasons as to why I am convinced that it is of paramount importance to set regulations about noise controlling. One reason is that making noise would disturb many people’s concentration. To be more specific, engine noise without control could negatively affect students who are preparing for the upcoming test or distract people trying to focus on doing their own stuff, thereby leading to poor performance and bad overall results. Another reason is that intrusive noise could influence everyone’s sleep. This is because most of the noise makers tend to create sounds at night when people are going to sleep, and if the problem of being sleepless is prolonged, this would lead to a deterioration in mental health and productivity at work and study
In conclusion, while it is irrefutable that people could generate the noise at their disposal to some extent, I would contend that it is crucial to impose laws to deaden noise.
