Band 5: A 'cashless society' is one where people use debit/credit cards and other forms of payment instead of cash. Do the advantages of a cashless society outweigh the disadvantages? (User-Written IELTS Writing Task 2 Essay)

Nowadays, the economy is developing strongly, more and more people tend to use cashless payment to pay for online orders and bills.There are both advantages and disadvantages to this, as I will outline in this essay.

I think the advantages of credit cards far outweigh their disadvantages. First , people cannot buy something online by paying cash for it, and this is one of the most important things about credit cards. Online shopping stores like Shopee, Tiki,.. have many beautiful and good items for us, so having a credit card will help us buy it easily. Second, cash payment via app or bank card is also a way to ensure a safer transaction process, fast payment speed, easy and flexible authentication. Simply, when we withdraw money in the traditional way at ATMs, it is easy for criminals to copy passwords and account numbers to rob assets. Third , when you go out, you don’t need to bring too much cash, just bring your phone to pay, reducing the risk of theft and making you feel lighter.

Besides many advantages, credit cards also have some disadvantages. For example, when wifi is lost, you will not be able to transfer money. Next, when the bank is overloaded, your money may be suspended and you have to go to the bank to complete procedures to get your money back. And when you reveal your pin, password or phone number, hackers can hack and take your money.

I strongly believe that the good opportunities that credit cards bring to people outweigh any of its disadvantages
