It is believed that a high level of competitiveness can be beneficial for studying and working. From my point of view, competitive environments are not suitable for everyone and in most cases can lead to negative effects.
On the one hand, competition can be an additional source of motivation for learners and employees. If an individual ever has ever found him or herself in a group of people who constantly improve their skills and produce good results, in most cases he or she would try to catch up with that group. It is also worth noting that usually people in competitive environments are more likely to achieve better outcomes and develop rapidly.
On the other hand, working under constant pressure can be mentally arduous and cause burnouts, as well as decrease in productivity. Those who compare themselves to others all the time end up anxious and unsatisfied with their work and sometimes stop trying at all. Another aspect of the problem is that a high level of competitiveness can harm the relationships inside a team. When everyone is determined to overshadow others and friends become rivals, the overall atmosphere in the group is cold and unwelcoming. This can also affect the final results, as people start to prioritize individual success over team collaboration.
In conclusion, I believe that while some people may feel motivated by a competitive atmosphere, for most of us it can be really difficult to constantly work or study under such conditions. Therefore, in my opinion collaboration and support can help achieve more fruitful results, rather than rivalry.
