Nowadays it is quite common thing to become a part of a competition both in field of studies and sphere of work. However, a competitive environment can be seen not only as a benefit for students and workers but also as a drawback.
On the one hand, it is obvious that students can compete among their group mates because of the ranking system where it is essential to be at the top. Thus, students get privileges from universities, for example, scholarships, state-funded education, an opportunity to live in dorms. Moving on to competition in working processes, it is enough understandable situation because office workers can compete with each other in terms of an opportunity to get a promotion. What is more, the best workers of a particular period of time can get perks and benefits from the company.
On the other hand, a highly competitive atmosphere can negatively affect on students and office workers lives. Firstly, competition is always closely connected with stress. Both students and office workers face enough stress during studying or working processes because they try to be the best. Secondly, if there is a competitive environment in a particular area, the relationships between group mates or colleagues can become very complex because of the necessity to compete and try to do their work much better than others.
Overall, competition is a highly motivated idea for both students and workers. However, in my opinion, there should be another option for both sides to be on the top, to get perks and benefits in a more flexible and effective way without any harm to person’s mental health and stability.
