Tourism, for the past few years, has been a significant point in the world. As a result, many workplaces across the world see this aspect as their revenue source. Sadly, poor management can create some issues. From my personal point of view, there are some benefits and drawbacks, which will be explained below.
One benefit of tourism is that entertainment has become more varied than before. As technology advances, communication and transportation have become the main pillar in holidays. As a result, tourists now can go everywhere and wherever they want to satisfy their needs to relieve stress. Additionally, cultural exchange undoubtedly will happen. For example, a certain family from the urban area taking a holiday to the countryside, during their tour they will be educated about the culture there. This event will lead to the family telling their stories and culture outside their town when they get back to their hometown.
While there are some drawbacks that can be found, such as cultural erosion. Exposure to foreign culture could damage the local traditions. Consequently, these old lifestyles are going to be replaced and forgotten forever. A further downside is that increasing the number of sightseers brings negative effects to nature. A perfectly clean beach could be broken in a matter of days by irresponsible individuals that throw trash everywhere they want to. These undisciplined actions undeniably will result in nature degradation.
All things considered, although tourism offers significant benefits such as increased entertainment options and cultural sharing, It also presents noticeable challenges including the erosion of both local traditions and nature. Therefore, it is crucial to manage tourism responsibly to maximize its advantages and minimize its disadvantages.
