Band 5+: A serious problem affecting countries right across the globe is the lack of water for drinking, washing and other household uses. Why do many countries face water shortages, and what could be done to alleviate the problem?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Nowadays, the issue of water scarcity is paramount in many countries and has a negative impact on water supplies by using it for drinking, washing, and household exploitations. In this essay, I will propose the main causes of this phenomenon and provide possible solutions.

To start with, one of the main reasons for water shortages is overpopulation. Over the last decades, the number of people on the planet has been increasing dramatically, reaching more than eight billion people, and, as a consequence, it affects the amount of water supplies. Take India as an example. There are more than 1.5 billion people in this country, and a major part of them usually use water aimlessly, such as throwing trash in the seas and oceans. Therefore, proportionately with this issue, a new problem is being introduced, as water pollution. The best way to stamp out this question would be to implement automatic savings of this expensive resource, as water. To exemplify, in the biggest cities of the world, such as Shanghai and Tokyo, with a population of more than 26 million, there are plenty of automatic systems with special calculations, so people will use water without any expenditures.

Secondly, as I believe, another important reason for water deficiency can be the indolence of many nations. In such huge countries, the problem of water shortages is usually not advertised, and no programs are introduced. Consequently, many people may not care about it. To tackle this problem, I would like to bring in a lot of programs, where all of the nations could be united. For instance, in some European countries, like Belgium and Germany, carpets are made from captured microplastics in the rivers.

To conclude, the problem of water shortages affects many nations through a lack of water for drinking, washing. There are several reasons, such as overpopulation, water pollution, and eagerness to make programs. Therefore, we should care more about water scarcity and use it frugally.
