While telling the truth is undeniably a crucial foundation of strong relationships, in my opinion I think that telling the truth is a good thing, but there are still cases where we can make exceptions to tell the truth.
Long-term growth of business depends on several factors that contribute to its sustainability. One key element is customers trust. When a business can build and maintain trust and satisfaction among its customers, it creates a solid and lasting customer base. However, if a business has a poor image or makes serious mistakes, such as engaging in fraud or deception, it can lose credibility. For example, the case of Theranos, where the founder was found guilty and sentenced to prison, this not only damaged the company’s reputation but also led to loss of the business. Building a good reputation and maintaining customer trust are essential for the long-term success of any business.
However, a white lie refers to providing information that is not entirely accurate or giving slightly distorted details with the intention of protecting someone’s feelings in situations that might cause emotional pain or concern, which could impact their psychological well-being. A clear example of a white lie is in sensitive medical situations, such as when someone is diagnosed with cancer. In this case, telling the full truth immediately may lead to intense stress or emotional harm for the patient. A white lie helps the patient process the situation gradually, starting with less severe information until they are able to cope with the full reality.This approach offers short-term protection from mental distress while still allowing the patient to learn the essential details later, when they are ready.
In conclusion, I choose to do both, but also consider other factors, balancing honesty with empathy to maintain a good relationships.
