It has become apparent in recent years that many cultural sites being damaged is an issue most people feel strongly about. This essay will consider the problems of heritage sites and outline possible solutions.
In this rat race life, most people focus on developing the economy and other ways to entertain themselves, which plays a major role in preserving historical sites. However, there is little effort put in by the government to raise citizens’ and visitors’ awareness about preserving buildings and monuments. With the numerous effects of climate change and natural disasters, many heritage sites will soon be demolished, leading to the disappearance of various cultural values. It is not uncommon in Vietnam that many prestigious, noble places such as temples and historical memorials are vandalized by a group of people, especially after festivals and holidays. As the issue becomes more serious, there should be some practical solutions. Education plays an essential role in raising people’s awareness of the importance of cultural values. Therefore, more actions will be taken to maintain the beauty and features of historical sites. Heavier fines can also be effective for tourists and citizens who violate public property. If the impact on the buildings is irredeemable, the culprit should face a custodial sentence. This can work as a warning to people to avoid causing any damage to the cultural sites. Furthermore, there should be a reconstruction of the buildings due to the effects of climate change and other natural disasters.
To sum up, the ignorance of many residents and the government and the impact of nature are the main reasons for the destruction of many cultural sights. But with some feasible solutions such as strict regulations, education, and repairing old buildings, we can prevent the cultural loss of our country.
