In the present era, the utilization of computers in education has significantly increased, which is diminishing the pivotal role of teachers in the classroom. This essay will argue that although the advancement of technology has a profound influence on learning, I still believe that interaction with teachers is essential.
It can be understood why some people advocate for replacing teachers with artificial intelligence. The primary reason is the proliferation of advanced applications, inundating students with numerous lessons and lectures from almost all subjects, enabling them to study without the presence of a teacher. However, this perspective overlooks the value of these lessons as the materials and lessons are not authentically present everywhere. If what they learn is not carefully chosen, it can impede their intellectual development.
On the other hand, educators have invaluable concern for students’ educational lives. Teachers guide students from start to finish, and the knowledge they impart cannot be learned correctly by anyone or anything, including computers or robots. Furthermore, teachers have special teaching methods that lead to individuals in the ways they have become guides for their future. Recently, many countries have followed the trend of making special efforts to replace teachers with robots or technology; they also tend to apply these practical methods to children’s subjects. For instance, China is renowned for its advanced technology globally, and their students’ learning process relies on it. Chinese children utilize computers instead of books for assignments. Moreover, in the Netherlands, students learn by practicing and experimenting on laptops or participating in technical exercises with robots. These examples depict various efforts to change learning techniques; however, no new method can alternately substitute for the educator’s position.
In conclusion, although technology contributes to children’s learning process, educators always maintain their sacred positions.
