In this day and age, with the development of each country, more people are buying and using their own cars for personal purposes. From my perspective, for several reasons, I firmly believe that the disadvantages for the environment outweigh the advantages of this trend for individuals. The following paragraphs will elaborate on my point of view.
Having a private car offers certain benefits to the owner. Flexibility and convenience are the most noteworthy factors contributing to this trend. Owning a car enables people to travel anywhere at any time, depending on their schedules and desires, because they are in control. Furthermore, while using public transport, such as buses or trains, is environmentally friendly, it can be time-consuming due to waiting for schedules and other passengers. This is not ideal for someone who is late for work or lacks patience. Therefore, personal cars offer significant convenience.
While owning a car brings numerous benefits to individuals, we should pay more attention to the negative impacts on the environment. To meet the increasing demand for cars, more factories are being constructed for manufacturing. The car manufacturing process significantly contributes to waste generation and water pollution. Additionally, the emissions from a growing number of vehicles lead to air pollution. For example, Hanoi, Vietnam, has some of the most polluted air in the world due to the large number of personal cars.
In conclusion, from what I have mentioned above, the trend of people using their own cars has more disadvantages for the environment than benefits for individuals. These environmental disadvantages should be carefully considered to avoid causing further harm to our planet and health.
