Nowadays, with the advancement of technology, connection to daily information is more common among residents. Therefore, it is believed that newspapers seem to be no longer the prevalent crucial source of news for the greater number of individuals. I agree with this statement, so this essay will point out my perspective.
To begin with, due to the emergence of the Internet, newspapers might be less vital to people than they used to be for several reasons. The first reason is the convenience of cutting-edge devices. To illustrate, in the era of technology development, each inhabitant owns a smartphone, which allows them to access news and broaden knowledge about social issues. Another reason is that it cannot be denied that newspapers are time-consuming to use, as audiences have to turn each pape to read instead of scrolling smoothly on screens. Particularly, the Internet supports the assortment of information and provides a smooth feeling for users when touching screen, such as iPhones, tablets, and iPads.
On the other hand, plenty of opponents may argue that magazines still retain their prestige with a number of clients for some explanations. Firstly, reading newspapers tends to be one of the conventional lifestyles, expecially the elderly. This is illustrated by the fact that older people nowadays still select newspapers as the main source to access news because of its originality and familiarity. In addition, using magazines helps individuals, especially children to retain their vision and understanding rather than collecting data without parents’ management and supervision. Nevertheless, such an arguement seems to have some merits on the surface because newspapers can be damaged easily and also unconvenient factors that lead to their disappearance.
In conclusion, while several supporters say that newspapers tend to maintain their status, notably with the elderly, I am greatly in favor of magazines being no longer the prevalent source of news due to the convenience of smart gadgets. With technology development, each resident should change habits to have a flexible adaptation to society.
