It is argued that having a job with a high salary is much more important than job satisfaction. I completely disagree with this statement due to some reasons which will be elucidated in this essay.
It is clear that a job with a high salary requires a high level of commitment from employees, which means that to get well-paid at work people have to devote a lot of effort and time to their jobs, leading to high pressure among these employees. Consequently, the fact that employees have to put too much effort to get a decent wage can bring about some negative implications on their mental health and also their social relationships. For example, young people who are under high expectations from parents and society pay 100% of their effort without spending time for themselves to be excellent at a demanding job and earn a lucrative salary, this makes them easily suffer from anxiety disorder and psychological issues.
On the contrary, getting a job that people enjoy can enhance their productivity at work which can both benefit the employers and employees. If a person can find pleasure in the daily work, he can find a sense of purpose in life. This can help them spend time for self care, their family and also their important social networks. By having time for their pleasure and relationships, people can enhance quality of life, which has a positive effect on both physical health and mental health.
In conclusion, job satisfaction should be given more importance compared to a high salary because focusing on money without taking mental health and social networks into consideration can lead to detrimental effects among laborers in the long term.
