Recently, famous people became well-known for their beauty and wealthy lifestyles rather than for their accomplishments, which will influence young people negatively. I strongly agree because in this way young audiences will seek fake beauty and wealth standards and will judge other people based on it.
One key reason why young individuals are badly influenced by celebrities is that they will blindly follow them and will relate success to glamour and wealth. Moreover, young viewers will be misled by how fascinating celebrities’ lives are, meanwhile, they do not know the hidden truths. Therefore, they will put them as role models which will erode their self-esteem, since they will not be able to compete with their rapid lifestyle pace. For example, young people will pressure their parents to buy them high-end brands such as Gucci and Prada just to fit in with famous people.
In addition, young people will develop a judgmental personality, viewing people based on their looks and the amount of money they earn, rather than by their life achievements. Although good looks and money can be a result of hard work and accomplishments, this being presented in a misleading way can hinder the modest morals young people have been raised by. Research has shown, as the number of social media influencers increased, more children fostered a bullying personality because the meaning of success has been transformed into glamorous appearance and being rich.
In conclusion, I completely agree that celebrities are becoming bad examples for young people because they let them follow unrealistic glamour and wealth standards as well as fostering a judgmental mindset.
