With the rapid development of technology, it has become ubiquitous to utilize computers in terms of education among individuals. It is often argued that teaching with computers has negative impacts on students, whilst others disagree and think it is more beneficial. I am convinced that even there are some drawbacks, plenty of advantages outweigh it simply.
Firstly, it is widely known that all necessary data these days are on the Internet. Which means that computers are considered an essential tool in classrooms as they serve as the main source of information. At home learners able to practice their writing and even speaking skills with the assist of AI tools. Furthermore, high tech can be used to check the plagiarism in pupils’ essays and prevent cheating during examinations as well. As an instance, researchers have told that integrating technology into exam rooms can determine up to approximately 85%-95% of cheating, which makes assessing students’ academic performance fairer.
Nevertheless, some claim learning through cutting-edge technology is harmful for some reasons. Using electronic devices can distract students from their studies. This is because they may spend too much time checking notifications or listening to music, which leads to multitasking and lower productivity. In addition, when learners rely heavily on devices in classrooms, they may no longer interact with teachers and peers. Eventually, this could result in social isolation and even serious consequences, which may affect their learning process.
Taking all points into consideration, it can be concluded that, although computers have certain disadvantages, I believe their benefits in education far surpass the negatives. With strict monitoring and proper guidance, most of these drawbacks can be minimized.
