It is said that countries in the world should grow kinds of food are comsumed in their own population , and they should limit imported activities as possible. From my perspective , I partly agree with this view for several reasons .
On the one hand , producing food locally offers significant benefits for nations. Firstly , it foster country’s economy by creating job openings in agriculture and related industries . In addition , it enhanes the ability to be self-sufficient domestically and reduces depending on foreign market . For example , during the Covid-19 pandemic , many countries faced challenges importing essential goods due to logistical issues .
However , depending entirely on local food production is not always feasible or practical . Many countries cannot grow a diverse range of crops or plants by virtue of the lack of the weather or natural resources. Tropical fruits , for instance , can develop in colder climate and vice versa, forcing nations to rely on imports to meet consumer demands. And for some people , they may not suitable with some domestic products , as a result , they just can buy and use commodities from other countries .
In conclusion because of merits and demerits of producing food locally , I believe that a balance between domestic products and foreign goods is crucial for sustainability and food security , in turn a more productive and prosperous nation.
