There are risks associated with the alternative use of medicine. Nowadays, there is a growing trend of substituting medicines. While these methods may seem appealing, they can be harmful.
Often, doctors recommend medications that are easily accessible. However, due to shortages of certain medicines, doctors may suggest alternative medications as a replacement. This can be hazardous to human health because the specific medication prescribed is essential for the individual’s well-being. Without the correct prescription, the individual may not be able to effectively treat their condition.
On the other hand, in situations where the prescribed medication is unavailable, having an alternative may provide some level of control over the illness. Although this is not an ideal solution, it can be considered in such circumstances as mentioned above.
For example, about five years ago in Pakistan, hundreds of people lost their lives due to the use of alternative medicine as a substitute for Aspirin. The original company that produced an adequate amount of Aspirin had been banned for uncertain reasons. Subsequently, a counterfeit company produced and distributed Aspirin using an alternative formula. Many doctors prescribed this alternative medication, resulting in fatalities.
While there are cases where alternative medicine may be effective, it is not always the most efficient approach. It is the responsibility of doctors and the government to ensure the provision of correct medications and facilities
