For instance, in Congo local government are more likely to see deforestation as the best solution to provide more areas for people to engage in this activity. Secondly, forests are cleared to build new apartments and houses for the local community. This, in turn, while creating new areas for people, leads to the destruction of vast stretches of vital woodland.
