These days, demand for food has become increasingly common in many countries. There could be several reasons why the requirements of food are rising, and they are some of the factors in the solution.
The primary reason why demand for food is increasing worldwide is that firstly, population growth is the most obvious cause. This is because the world population is expected to reach nearly 10 billion by 2050, with almost all growth occurring in developed countries. Secondly, urbanization is the most important reason because people move to big cities for living or traveling. They would like to eat a range of foods, and they can order such as pasta, pizza, and sushi from Japan. For instance, nowadays, China’s population is growing to about 2.5 billion, and the requirement is very high.
However, there can be an address to this challenge if the international community focuses on three key measures. First, sustainable farming products. For example, crop rotation, agroforestry, and agriculture can significantly increase yield without expending farmland. Second, the government should invest in food technology and alternative proteins. The main reason is that they may include plant-based substances, lab-grown meat, and insect proteins. Third, reducing food waste is critical. So, cutting waste by half would feed an additional billion people.
In conclusion, the demand for food has several reasons behind this issue, such as population growth and urbanization. I believe that farming products, food technology, and reducing food waste can solve the problem.
