A recent experience that demonstrates my qualifications for this exchange program is when I led a team for a school project focused on conducting interview-based research. Our objective was to gather insights from experts through interviews and present our findings. Initially, we thought this would be a straightforward task; however, we soon discovered that organizing and conducting the interviews posed more challenges than we had anticipated.
Many of the experts we tried to contact were either unavailable or difficult to reach. As the team leader, I took the initiative to oversee the project and ensure we remained on track. I delegated tasks among my teammates, assigning some to draft questions while I concentrated on following up with potential interviewees and identifying new contacts as needed. This process required considerable patience and effective communication, but ultimately, we managed to secure interviews with several experts who provided us with invaluable insights.
After collecting all the information, we collaborated to analyze it and create a comprehensive presentation. The project turned out to be far more rewarding than we expected because we employed first-hand knowledge from our interviews. This leadership experience taught me crucial skills in team management, problem-solving, and adaptability when facing unexpected circumstances.
I believe this experience will greatly benefit me in the exchange program, where I will need to collaborate with new people, navigate unforeseen challenges, and think creatively in various situations. Leading my team underscored the importance of staying organized and motivated, and I am confident that these skills will contribute to my success throughout the exchange.
