There is ongoing debate whether directors of big corporations and enterprises should be older people with life long experience and ability to manage specific processes. However, others are convinced that youngsters should occupy managing positions. Both perspectives present valid arguments regarding the qualities that make an effective leader. But, i strongly believe that in leadership positions should be older people.
On the one hand, older individuals are often more experienced and reliable in comparison with young managers due to their life-long experience and academic knowledge. By managing a huge number of project and regulating different processes in companies, they became more professional regarding the effectiveness of managing. Moreover, regular accomplishment of different tasks forms habits of rapid engagement and deep understanding projects and increases risk management skills. For example, in economic instability, older managers can rely on their past knowledge and may take attempts to prevent negative consequences and provide safety for company.
On the other hand, young managers might be more communicative due to their flexibility and mindset. Additionally, Giving them opportunity to develop companies, might significantly improve effectiveness of working process. Also, young people frequently implement modern thinking and bring innovations. Moreover, they often understand modern technologies and might do tasks even better and faster than old ones. For instance, recent research conducted by Cambridge University reveals that 65% of successful startup were established by younger people. But, due to their inexperience they often tend to commit mistakes, which could have catastrophic consequences, especially for young projects.
In conclusion, while younger managers offer innovative solutions with accurate integrating of modern technologies, i strongly believe that older managers should be prioritized due to their life-long experience and management intelligence.
