Some people argue that it is better for younger people to be leaders, considering directors and managers of organisations are often older people. While I believe that older people often pose knowledge and experience required for higher positions, I also agree that younger people should be given a chance to acquire those positions if they qualified.
People who work in formal sector often have to work all the way up the career ladder in their organisations. Starting from an entry level position, then becoming a mid- and top manager, and finally achieving a more executive level. All the processes requires consistency and dedication, which often would take decades of excellent hard work. Therefore, people only managed to become directors and managers when they are older. However, this doesn’t mean that younger people don’t deserve chances to be leaders as there are other factors in determining people’s position.
There are some factors that will increase the probability of younger generations becoming headman, particularly the scale of organisations and the hard work. In many small companies, young people able to climb the ladder relatively faster than in bigger companies because there are less competition between employees, increasing their chance to be promoted. Moreover, people who work hard to achieve target and goal of the company, regardless the age, also deserve to be promoted. An older employee doesn’t always work harder than their younger counterparts.
In conclusion, a high level in organisation is better off given to people who work hard and show dedication in their careers, regardless the age.
