Teaching is itself a hurdle, a need to teach more of handwriting and mental mathematics seems a lot of burden on a teacher as well as on a student. Schools need to focus on an individual performance than on basic skills which can be easily replaced by technological gadgets.
First of all, Teaching has always been a daunting task making teachers harder to understand the different perspective of different students. Many students might not feel interested in handwriting and mathematics skills. Additionally, there are pupils who do not want to waste their time in learning things they already know. Another reason is, this is a world of technology and calculators and works faster than our brain whereas wasting papers to correct words have been more easy and clean on gadgets than on papers.
With all the advantages comes the limitations, Humankind have forgotten to have discipline to work on themselves. They rely too much on the laptops and mobiles for their work to be done. The basic of learning handwriting and mental mathesmatics have become a big of a task for them as they seem uninterested. Humans earlier, trained themselves to learn abacus, and write in a good handwriting and also got prizes for it. The competitive nature has now been faded.
On balance, Using technology for the basic skills a neccesity in today’s life. The extra burden of learning the basic skill is not acceptable to many. Hence, not teaching handwriting and mental mathematics is best for both teachers and students.
