The Internet became huge part of our life and people use it for many different reasons. Some people think that the internet needs to be controlled by the government, while others argue that it is a bad idea to give power over the internet to authorities and may lead to bad consequences.
In my opinion the internet shouldn’t be controlled by the government. The internet is a land of the free, and the government shouldn’t have control over it. Even nowadays, when authorities don’t have control the internet, they still have means to use the internet to spread misleading information, or even use it for spreading propaganda. Great example of that is Russia, even though the government doesn’t have control over the internet, government managed to trap their citizens in their bubble of influence. And if we gave even more control over the internet to the government, It would be really dangerous, because government would be able to control everything that you’re saying in order to change you to be a perfect citizen of their country, and this would violate right of free speech, that everybody needs to have and it is one of the fundamental human rights.
In conclusion. I think it is a bad idea to give government full control over the internet, and the internet needs to have some rules and laws, but it shouldn’t be controlled by the government, and you should be able to think and say everything that you want on the internet, in order for everybody to have right of free speech on the internet, and this right will be violated in case government controls the internet.
