Currently, driverless cars are becoming more popular and gradually replacing vehicles driven by humans. This essay explores both sides and clarifies my perspective. I believe that driverless cars are beneficial in every possible way.
On the one hand, there are numerous benefits to self-driving cars. For instance, they can improve safety because autonomous vehicles reduce accidents caused by human error. For example, Tesla’s autopilot system in the USA has been shown to lower accident rates.
Furthermore, another advantage is accessibility. People who cannot drive due to disabilities or age can travel independently. In Germany, pilot programs for automated buses or trains have provided mobility for older individuals.
On the other hand, there are some drawbacks to unmanned vehicles due to possible technological failures. No one can be entirely sure that these devices will not suddenly break down or experience system malfunctions. Therefore, they can be dangerous and sometimes lead to fatal accidents. For instance, in Ghana, an attempt to replicate Tesla models failed due to a lack of knowledge and resources, resulting in severe injuries during testing. Additionally, self-driving cars are expensive, and not everyone can afford them. This is because manufacturers account for the cost of materials and labor required to produce such advanced vehicles.
In summary, while both perspectives offer valid points, I believe the benefits of robotic vehicles hold more weight. Their advantages, particularly in accessibility for disabled individuals and improved safety, make them a more compelling choice despite the concerns raised.
