As the year goes by, opportunities in one’s own country get limited, hence people move from one country to another. In this essay, I’m going to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of migration for individuals and for society as a whole.
One advantage of moving to another country is being able to find a job that pays better. For example, a nurse’s salary in the Philippines is around $35,000, while in the US, they can earn five times more. But despite the increase in salary, it also means a higher cost of living. My friend, who is a nurse in New York, said that she spends five times more on her cost of living. So despite earning more, she also spent more.
The advantage to society is that these people who work abroad send money to their own country. This has a good effect on the economy. As foreign money enters the economy, it can create a cycle wherein these funds can fund the economy, thus creating more infrastructure that the country needs. The disadvantage is that it could also mean a lack of nurses in the local country. It could wreck havoc on medical society. If these keep going on, there will be no nurses to serve the hospitals, and that could lead to a huge government problem.
In conclusion, there are advantages and disadvantages to migration for the individual and for society as a whole. One advantage is that the person will be able to level up his or her standard of living since they can earn more in the foreign country. However, it could also mean a higher cost of living. On the other hand, foreign money from people who migrate can boost the economy. However, it can also lead to a lack of skillful people leaving the country and thus creates a huge problem to the government.
