The argument over extreme sports revolves around whether it should be prohibited or not because of their threat. Although I admit that skydiving and skiing are dangerous to peoples’ lives, I personally believe that the benefits outweigh the drawbacks.
Critics of extreme sports argue that, Skydiving and skiing have a potential threat some extend and they should be banned. Skydiving and skiing are accounted for risky sports requiring special skills and experience. These sports are so risky that it might end in injury or death. Professional athletes even finish their careers with several injuries or in some case it might be costing their lives. For example, During the 2010 Winter Olympics, about 10% of athletes reported injuries, with snowboarding and freestyle skiing among the most injury-prone disciplines. Among the extreme sports skydiving is so dangerous that in the United States, skydiving has a fatality rate of approximately 8 deaths per 1 million jumps.
However dangerous these sports may seem, I believe that they do not actually endanger for peoples’ lives. Skydiving and skiing might help people to boost their confidence and reduce their stress. People when completing skydiving Adrenalin rushes their brain and can trigger the release of endorphins. These activities usually organized in beautiful places; exotic places like mountains for skiing or drop zones for skydiving which can made people more social and provides lifestyle benefits.
In conclusion, although skydiving and skiing are risky sports and might lead to harm for peoples’ health, I personally believe that these extreme sports should not be banned because of the mental and social benefits
