The growing obsession with fashion has sparked considerable debate in modern society. Many individuals believe that some clothes exist to just earn money from them while others argue that we should dress what we want and not follow this fashion trend. This essay will discuss both perspectives before presenting my opinion.
Nowadays, fashion trends are fast-paced and hard to follow. This is largely due to influence of social media platforms and commercial companies. The fashion industy frequently introduces new styles, encouraging consumers to replace perfectly usable clothing. As a result, individuals may feel pressured to spend money in order to keep up with constantly changing standarts. This cycle benefits companies financially while placing financial strain on consumers. For instance, colours and styles that were popular last season are quickly replaced by new ones, even though the old items remain perfectly usable.
However, blindly chasing trends may result in the loss of individuality. Fashion can serve as a form of self-expression, allowing people to demonstrate their personality and creativity. Moreover, the clothes need to be convenient to a person and what this person like. From my perspective, this viewpoint is more convincing because geniune confidence comes from feeling comfortable, not from following temporary trends. For example, many professionals such as Steve Jobs choose simple and comfortable clothing rather than fashionable outfits in order to impress public.
In conclusion, although fashion trends are often influenced by commercial interests, I believe that people should prioritise their own comfort and preferences when choosing what to wear.
