Band 6+: Fewer and fewer people walk on a daily basis. What are the reasons and how to encourage them to spend their time walking?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In the contemporary era, it is true that there has been a significant decline in the number of people walking. This essay will delineate the underlying causes of this phenomenon and propose effective strategies to ameliorate the situation.

A significant factor contributing to the dwindling number of people walking is excessive caseload which people spend significant time to address. This, in turn, prevents them from physical activities like walking. A good illustration of this is students who even have to invest their spare time in dealing with homework, limiting their access to favorite sports. In addition, the advent of technologies draws residents’ attention through interesting recreational sources such as video games and social media, contributing to a sedentary lifestyle which leads to the motivation degradation for simple exercise like walking. The confluence of these factors has, thus, propelled the drop of quantity of walking people.

In order to tackle this pressing issue, comprehensive measures must be implemented. Firstly, the governments should reduce workload by enacting polices for the suitable official working time while companies and businesses must support this strategy to create the balance between work and health. For example, in countries like England where the workforce has a four-day workweek to curb the caseload as well as spend time on improving mental and physical health. Concurrently, learning time-management skills is important for each individual to prioritize necessary things like health problem instead of wasting time and energy in meaningless ones such as games and online forums.

In conclusion, the dwindling amount of walking people is directly linked to the heavy workload and the emergence of digital devices, resulting in limited access to physical exercise and a sedentary lifestyle. Sustainable solutions lie in mitigating working time and enhancing the awareness of time management.
