With the technological advancements and modernization, it has become increasingly common for individuals to have the accessibility for films and games via electronical devices, at any time, particularly in urban settings. In my view, although this practice presents certain benefits, its disadvantages to people’s development significantly outweigh the advantages.
The primary reason for being accessed for films and games is for its accessibility and conveniency. When people watch movies through online platforms, they can see them at any time, irrespective of geographical barriers, enabling them to save money for commuting. When it comes to online games, children can play them with their friends or even make new ones, which helps them expand their social circle and strengthen their bonds. As a result, they learn not only how to work in packs, but also develop their critical thinking and problem-solving skills as they face unforeseen challenges.
Conversely, it goes without saying that there are some clear disadvantages associated with films and online games. Firstly, when children play such games excessively, they are more likely to be addicted to them, leading to poorer eyesight and academic performance. As a consequence, they can not land well paid jobs in their future careers, resulting in financial burden. In turn, they can experience mental health problems such as depression and anxiety, that is why I consider children should be strictly controlled by their parents when using them.
To sum up, while films and games offers certain advantages, I believe that its disadvantages to individuals far outweigh the benefits.
