There is only one earth and right now it is in the brink of total destruction. With the significant reduction in the number of trees, it is inevitable to face morbid environmental consequences. Such that, the entire ecosystem may collapse and its inhabitant is in grave danger. Thus, I agree that without the trees, the planet will seize to exist.
First, plants absorbs carbon dioxide and produces oxygen as a byproduct. This gas is essential for survival since it is a physiologic need that enables every living organism to function normally. Moreover, it prevents the green house effect in the atmosphere which in turn cools the environment and maintains the integrity of the ozone layer. Thus, further shielding us from the damaging ultraviolet rays from the sun.
Second, the forest woods draws in water from their roots thereby limiting the rush of flood, therefore mitigating the damage to the nearby community and habitats. Although dams and man-made water system are built, it isn’t enough to withstand the effects of climate change. Moreover, the trunks add a layer of protection from the strong winds. As a result, we are able stay safe from the natural calamities.
Third, it harbors an ecosystem that maintains the harmony of living and non-living creatures. Without a shelter, the population of wildlife will decrease until it reaches extinction. Furthermore, human takes refuge within the forest. Without them, this place would be nothing but a wide desert.
At the end of the day, we only have one home. Without it, there’ll be no place to run to, thus we should do everything within our capabilities to keep it safe, be more sensible in our actions, and plant more trees. If earth couldn’t breathe, we die along with it.
