It is fact that our earth’s lion share is comprised of water, but unfortunately only 3% water is fresh water which is quite low in quantity when we compare it with the requirement of the entire world’s population. There are several root causes of water scarcity and it is a matter of concern for the entire world. However, a few remedies could be offered to resolve the situation to a large extent. Examining the reasons, the most common one is rise in population. It means that the number of people are increasing day by day whereas the resources of fresh water are still confined. For example, with every newborn child, a new consumer of fresh water is added. Moreover, the other cause is commercial farming. On the contrary, to combat the issue, some substantial initiatives can help to mitigate this menace to a large extent. The foremost one is to raise awareness among masses regarding family planning and the importance of fresh water. This means that seminars can be arranged to develop consciousness among people that lesser family members means less fresh water consumption. For example, literate beings can educate people regarding issues which can be instigated due to water scarcity. In addition to this, different communities can build small water reservoirs to ensure water availability. It means that different blocks can be built to store fresh water. For example, people can do collective efforts to save fresh water for their use. Besides this, rainwater can also be stored for future use. People can use rainwater to do different household chores including washing their floor, dishes and clothes as well as it can be used in industrial tasks.
