There is a rising discussion nowadays whether governments should invest in the arts, such as musical, acting and dancing shows or they should use this money in public services and responsibilities instead. In my opinion, arts are essential part of people’s lives and they are as important as any other sectors, therefore governments should invest in them.
On the one hand, Governments should use the public money wisely. Although governments have their priorities, they must listen to people opinions. It is crucial for the people to have acceptable transportation services, health care insurance and access to good educational systems. Hence, governments must pay attention to afford the basics for a decent life to their citizens. For instance, countries that failed to serve people needs have higher crime rates and suffer from instability in comparison with other countries.
On the other hand, governments should not consider arts as a trivial part of life. Arts such as music and theatre are considered as mandatory aspects in life for people to get along with. People need to find something that expressed their feelings, thoughts and dreams. In this case, people in authority should left a considerable amount of money to nurture the arts. For example, statistics showed that arts not only increase people happiness but also play a great role in writing history, change political views and increase people awareness.
In conclusion, governments must invest money in arts without neglecting the public services. It is my belief that arts are the reason why people tolerate catastrophic events in life. If people live without the support of arts, their life will deteriorate so fast.
