Nowadays, people live in an era with freedom and mass media such as internet, films, videos, books and newspapers are available to the citizens, while some countries controlled censorship which is beneficial and risky.
In my opinion, controlling the public will preserve user privacy, however, it deprives people freedom.
On the one hand, protecting privacy is key to ensuring human dignity. One of the most important steps to respect user privacy and protect their data is to obtain their agreement before collect, use or share their data for specific purpose. There have been numerous high-profile data breaches and privacy scandals involving social media platforms. As a result, to ensure privacy, platform should prevent unauthorized access to users personal information, reducing the risk of identity theft.
On the other hand, controlling public media leads to destruction of freedom, so people feel depressed about it. One of the primary concerns regarding the regulation of social media is the potential deprivement on freedom of speech and expression, because people possess the right to express their personal perspective. For example, China regulates the content of public media, any content including political idealogy or violence would be barred by government. In this case, citizens in China are incapable of showing their own thoughts to the public. Eventually, to control media will has negative effect on the society to some extent.
To conclude, concluding public media could be conducive and determental to the whole society. However, it is important that every nation should know about weigh balance between it.
