While it is widely believed that children are becoming overweight and unhealthy in most countries, the government should be responsible for this situation. Although advertisements, which can be regulated by the government, of various products and unhealthy foods are the main reasons of obesity among children, some people argue that parents of these children should take responsibility for this phenomenon, since they could manage their children and their diet strictly. However, I totally agree that the government should be the main responsible for an increase of obesity and unhealthiness among children.
One of the main reasons why governments should be considered to take responsibility for an increase of obesity and unhealthiness is that they can regulate advertisements to be shown all across the world due to their quality. In most cases, government only checks the quality of product, not public demand or health condition of children who consume or use these products.
This drives children to have health issues related to their fat tissues. Obesity among children can be attributed to their diet; these children consume junk foods with good quality despite their unhealthy nutrition. Moreover, children have to eat meals that can be prepared as soon as possible because of their exams and excessive workload, most of these exams, lessons and subjects are introduced by governments, this practice contributes to obesity and unhealthiness of children. Governments can be the main reason of obesity among children, since they introduce most of the lessons which force children to have excessive workload. This obesity forces parents to spend money on their children to become healthy again. For example, children’s obesity can be attributed to unhealthy foods and advertising campaigns of these foods which are allowed to be shown by the government. These children’s parents spend a lot of money on their children, since they become targeted audience of these advertisements and have no choice but to eat quickly prepared meals constantly because of exams and homework at school. Not only do children become overweight because of the influencing factor of advertisements, but their school projects can also be attributed to their unhealthiness. This could, in turn, lead to the consideration that government is responsible for an increase of obesity among children.
On the other hand, parents are being considered responsible for these phenomena by a huge number of people globally. The reason is that they could manage their children strictly not to consume unhealthy foods. They can ban their children to eat unhealthy products such as junk foods or quickly prepared meals. For example, in Asian countries, most individuals give a lot of money to their children to buy and eat junk foods in a school or kindergarten cafeteria. This has detrimental effects on children, since obesity rate and unhealthiness are increasing immediately. Consequently, parents should be taken as responsible for this phenomenon.
To sum up, while it is true that parents have a huge impact on a diet of their children, it is also important to consider that government’s practices have detrimental effects on children and their health condition. I agree that government should be responsible for unhealthiness and obesity of children.
