In particular nations, younger generations meet the difficulty to purchase their own accommodation. From my perspective, the prior reason of this phenomenon is the lack of salaries, meanwhile they can earn another incomes by looking for side jobs to help them tackling this crises.
One of the most reasonable factors for young people is lack of income. This is because many young people in the ground level of career still have low financial remunerations. For example, a 25 years old accountant in a food industry working in Surabaya have annual income at IDR 5,000,000. This amount of salary can help him just to fulfill his primary needs but it can not assist him to get their own house due to the fact that living in the city is costly.
In my opinion, having a side job can be the solution for this problem. It can open opportunities for young individuals to get many source of incomes, ensuring them into financial stability. For instance, many graphic designers in Jakarta have a second job as Information technology freelances. They provide services to numerous international companies around the world in remote circumstance with high paying salaries. In addition, it cannot affect their primary job because they work remotely with flexible times and places. As a consequence, they have adequate resources to assist them having their own house in the city.
To sum up, young people in the urban area still have low wages that cannot lead them to afford their own house. They need to have side job to guarantee them having sufficient wages that can open wider opportunities for owning a home.
