Band 7+: In many countries the consumption of fast food has increased dramatically in recent years. What has cause this increase? What effect might it have on individuals and society?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

It’s true that the number of people consuming fast food is increasing today. While there are several factors contributing to this issue, its consequences are detrimental.

There are several reasons why people consume more fast food. Firstly, **it is** mainly **because** of busy lifestyles. Nowadays, many people have tight schedules, and they work long hours. As **a** result, they have little time left to prepare food at home, so they choose fast food to save time. For example, office workers often buy burgers or pizza instead of spending an hour preparing dinner. Another factor leading to this case is the affordability of fast food. Many fast-food restaurants offer low prices, combo meals, and discounts. This makes them attractive, especially to students and low-income **workers**.

As a consequence, this problem leads to severe effects. One of them is that frequent fast food consumption damages people’s health. Fast food usually contains large amounts of fat, sugar, and salt. Eating it regularly can lead to obesity, **diabetes,** and heart disease. **Furthermore**, an unhealthy diet can lower people’s performance. Fast food lacks many essential nutrients. When people frequently consume junk food, they may feel tired, lose concentration, and have less energy. This can reduce their performance at work or school.

In conclusion, fast food has become increasingly popular because it is both convenient and affordable. I feel that it can lead to serious consequences, particularly health problems and reduced productivity.
